Real Estate Agents typically operate business as Independent Contractors. The Senate has passed AB5 which will reclassify many Independent Contractors as Employees. As written by “Housingwire – Licensed real estate agents were given a carve-out in the California bill, along with insurance agents, doctors, securities brokers, and more than half a dozen other professions”.
This exemption will allow professionals such as Real Estate Agents to continue providing important services and representation. When success is achieved from hard work and quality service, rather than a guaranteed hourly wage, clients interest will remain the top priority.
